Nia

Nia is the most wonderful, full-bodied, soulful holistic dance exercise in existence. Drawing respectfully from Martial Arts, Dance Arts and Healing Arts, Nia delivers the five sensations of MOBILITY, AGILITY, FLEXIBILITY, STRENGTH, AND STABILITY, while also creating the opportunity for you to move YOUR BODY’S WAY within the very mindfully choreographed routine to AMAZING MUSIC. For more information on the history and present-day life of Nia, go to Nianow.com. “Through movement we find health”.

Gentle Nia

Gentle Nia is exactly how it sounds: a gentler, shorter version of Nia. The level of movement varies based on the population of the class. Sometimes Gentle Nia can be done seated, some classes can be all seated or with some standing choreography. Safety is always the first priority.

Wild Woman Work

Wild Woman Work is a multi-arts exploration for healing and growth in a safe, confidential circle of women.

Dance for PD

Dance for PD (Dance for People with Parkinson’s) is a program developed by the Mark Morris Dance company in New York City. It brings joy and vitality to people who are suffering from the many limitations that come from Parkinson’s disease. The basis is a lyrical and fun modern dance base with plenty of room to experiment with jazz, ballet, and other dance styles. There is both seated and standing choreography, the amount tailored for the class population.

Assisted Living Classes

Assisted Living Classes are for residents at every level of health and cognition. Seated and standing choreography according to the needs of the group. Much of this class is taught seated the entire class. MUSIC IS CAREFULLY SELECTED to bring fun and joy to the lovely people in the class. There are also opportunities for creative group expression in activities such as “LET’S MAKE A DANCE POEM”, etc. Participants are treated as unique individuals, not talked down to like children. Dementia and other cognitive problems are not a barrier.
